COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST
ADH and Hometown Improvement have also broadened efforts to work with schools specifically in support of Act 1220 and to address the statewide childhood obesity problem. The Community Health Promotion Specialist (CHPS) are employed by the Department of Health and housed in the Educational Cooperatives. This position works with schools, community coalitions, health care providers, and the Hometown Health Regional Team to address the problem of childhood obesity. The primary focus of this position is working with schools and the community to support the implementation of physical activity and nutrition standards and policies approved by the State Board of Health and the State Board of Education.
